First Aid Training Reviews

My experience over the 3 day first aid course was excellent. Alan was great in the calm methodic and polite the way he passed his knowledge to us. Every piece of kit was available for us to practice with, as I am a tradesman I am a hands on person which the first responder course gave every opportunity to do so.

Completed the First Aid at Work Course (FAW) here this week. Learnt so much about First Aid from Katie and Alan over the 3 days. Staff couldn’t be more helpful when any questions were asked and the training provided was first class. Would definitely recommend this company to anyone wanting to learn how to give First Aid.

Easy to deal with to prepare a 1st aid course. Easy to be on the course. Very easy to understand the first aid course content. Enjoyable and relaxed. No problems at all!

Frequently Asked First Aid Questions

How Long Does A First Aid Training Certificate Last For?

In most cases, first aid certificates last for three years before they need to be renewed, but the HSE recommends a refresher course every year. When you complete your first aid at work training course or an emergency first aid course, you will be awarded a certificate, which will be valid for three years. When it comes time to renew your first aid certificate, you need to take a two day refresher course to get your new certificate. This refresher needs to be completed within 28 days of the expiration date on your previous certificate.

Other types of first aid certificates have different rules about expiry and renewal. For example, a paediatric first aid at work certificate can be renewed every three years but an AED defibrillator certificate is only valid for one year before you need to take a refresher course to renew it.

How to prepare beforehand

There are no entry requirements for our first aid courses. That said, it can be useful to familiarise yourself with some of the basic theory beforehand. To help you with this, we’ve provided a wide range of helpful first aid resources on our site. Take a look to learn about everything from first aid needs assessments to how to treat someone who has had a fall.

There’s no need to do any extensive learning, though. A brief introduction to some first aid theory using our resources will help your development, but don’t try to get a headstart by learning any specific first aid procedures before your training course – attempting to learn the procedures yourself could result in confusion during the tutorials and may be detrimental to your progress.

In terms of other useful preparation tips, you should ensure that you wear appropriate clothing. Most casual, loose-fitting clothes will be fine for taking part in the course, but it’s advisable to wear trousers for your comfort as some of the practical elements will require you to kneel on the floor. Flat-bottomed shoes are also recommended for the more physical parts of the course.

It’s worth noting that you should only attend if you’re physically able to move about and kneel for prolonged periods. If you suffer from physical constraints or disabilities, get in touch with us before you book. We will be able to advise you on whether you can qualify as a first-aider.

How do you compare on cost to other first aid training providers?

When compared to other leading first aid training providers such as St John Ambulance (SJA) or Redcross First Aid Training, we tend we be half the cost per person, whilst offering the same qualifications.

What kind of topics are covered during first aid training?

The first aid skills that we teach vary depending on which course you undertake. Some of the topics we cover are; cardiac arrest, minor injuries, emergency services, emergency medical, chemical burns, allergic reaction, mental health issues, vulnerable people, risk of suicide, practical assessments, spinal injuries,

First aid training during covid

We are no longer running any enhanced covid-19 procedures. We monitor health and safety regulations in Scotland, England & Wales and will make changes if required.

How do your courses work?

First aid courses are designed to give people the knowledge and skills they need to respond effectively to a variety of emergency situations. These courses are typically delivered in a variety of formats, including online and in-person classroom instruction, and are intended for students of all skill levels.

The certification programme is an important aspect of a first aid course. Students will receive a certificate recognising their ability to provide first aid in a variety of situations upon completion of the course. Companies and organisations frequently require certification in order to comply with health and safety regulations.

The course is divided into sections, each of which covers a different aspect of first aid. Students can go through the programme in any order they want, and they will learn the fundamentals of first aid, such as how to perform CPR, control bleeding, and treat burns and fractures. They will also learn how to identify the symptoms of a heart attack, a stroke, and other serious medical conditions.

Updates and videos are frequently included in online first aid courses, providing students with the most up-to-date information on best practises and guidelines. They will have access to the course at any time and from any location, and they will be able to take quizzes and complete activities to test their comprehension of the material.

In addition to the training programme, the blended first aid courses include a member area where students can access additional resources such as industry data and insights, as well as links to relevant news and information.

The cost of a first aid course varies depending on the programme and level of certification provided. However, many businesses and organisations believe that the value of training far outweighs the cost because it helps to ensure the safety and well-being of their employees and customers.
